A nationalist group associated with the Genyosha and the Black Dragon Society. It was founded in 1908 by Tanaka Hiroyuki as a club for so-called "ronin" (masterless samurai) who considered themselves "patriots of the country." Most of the members of the Genyosha were not from Fukuoka Prefecture. Led by Miura Goro, Toyama Mitsuru, Sasaki Yasugoro, Furushima Kazuo, and Ogawa Unpei, they were active in stirring up nationalistic public opinion and anti-democracy movements. In 1918, together with the Black Dragon Society, they carried out the "Osaka Asahi Shimbun Punishing Movement" (White Rainbow Incident), and also attacked the magazine "Nihon to Nihonjin" (Japan and the Japanese), which criticized the actions of the association.
