Jiuta. Lyricist and composer unknown. First appeared in Shinsen Shikakyoku Yoshinoyama, published in 1784 (Tenmei 4), as a Handayu mono (a variation of zashiki joruri performed as Azuma joruri in Kamigata). In full tune. The lyrics are particularly humorous, making it one of the entertaining sakumono (pieces of music). It has been included as a piece since the 1801 (Kyowa 1) edition of Shin Taisei Ito no Shirabe. It tells a humorous story of mice running around the house late at night. One piece that takes these lyrics and discards them, particularly with elaboration on the shamisen hand, is the Kyoku Nezumi (Music Mouse).
