Masked palm civet (white nosed heart)

Japanese: ハクビシン(白鼻心) - ハクビシン（英語表記）masked palm civet

It is a mammal of the carnivora family, civets, with a body the size of a cat, and is called the white-nosed civet because of the white area from its forehead to its nose. It is found in Kashmir, Tibet, the Himalayas, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, southern China, Hainan Island, Taiwan, Japan, and other areas. Its body length is 51-76 cm, its tail length 50-64 cm, and its weight 3.6-5 kg. Its body shape is intermediate between that of a cat and a weasel, with a relatively small and round head, a long body, and short limbs. Its front and back feet have five toes with claws that can be retracted somewhat, and it is semi-plantigrade, walking with half of its feet touching the ground, and the soles of its feet are hairless up to the heels, making it suitable for climbing trees.
