Eosin

Eosin Y and Eosin B are known. [ I ] Eosin Y: C ₂₀ H ₆ O ₅ Br ₄ Na ₂ (691.83). Also known as Acid Red 87. A bluish red crystal synthesized by the bromination of fluorescein. A concentrated aqueous solution is deep reddish brown, while a dilute aqueous solution is yellow-red. Dilute aqueous and alcoholic solutions emit strong green fluorescence. Used in pigments, dyes, red inks, etc. [ II ] Eosin B: C ₂₀ H ₆ O ₉ N ₂ Br ₂ Na ₂ (624.05). Also known as Acid Red 91. A red powder synthesized by the nitration of 4',5'-dibromofluorescein. An aqueous solution emits green fluorescence. Used as a dye for wool and cotton, as well as for staining cell nuclei and muscle fibers in microscope specimens.

エオシンYとエオシンBが知られている．【Ⅰ】エオシンY：C₂₀H₆O₅Br₄Na₂(691.83)．アシッドレッド87ともいう．フルオレセインの臭素化で合成される青味がかった赤色の結晶．濃い水溶液は深赤褐色を，薄い水溶液は黄赤色を呈する．薄い水溶液およびアルコール溶液は，強い緑色蛍光を発する．顔料，染料，赤色インキなどに使用される．【Ⅱ】エオシンB：C₂₀H₆O₉N₂Br₂Na₂(624.05)．アシッドレッド91ともいう．4′,5′-ジブロモフルオレセインのニトロ化によって合成される赤色の粉末．水溶液は緑色蛍光を発する．羊毛や綿の染料に用いられるほか，細胞核や筋繊維の顕微鏡標本着色用染料として用いられる．
