Summer Canon - Natsu no Kanon (English)

Japanese: 夏のカノン - なつのカノン（英語表記）Sumer‐canon

Original title: "Sumer is icumen in (Summer has come)". A type of canon called a rota (also called the Reading Rota), said to have been created around 1250 (some say 1310) at Reading Abbey in England. It has six voices, and takes the form of a double canon, with the upper four voices and the lower two voices (pes) each forming a separate canon. Due to its bright and beautiful sound and intricate structure, it is often called "a miracle in the history of music."

原名《Sumer is icumen in(夏は来りぬ)》。1250年ころ(1310年説もある)イギリスのレディング修道院で成立したとされるロータrotaと呼ばれるタイプのカノン(レディングのロータReading Rotaともいう)。声部数は6声部で，上の4声部と下の2声部(ペスpes)がそれぞれに別のカノンを形づくる二重カノンの形態をとり，明るく美しい響きと精巧な構造のために，しばしば〈音楽史の奇跡〉といわれる。
