One-stroke carving

〘Noun〙 A style of wood carving. It is finished with a rough surface. It is called that because it looks like it was carved with a single stroke. It started in the Kamakura period, and the famous Ittau-bori dolls of Nara and Ichi-bori dolls of Hida are famous. * Seitau-ruten (1939) <Kanoko Okamoto> "It looks a bit like Nara Ittau-bori. 〘名〙 木彫り様式の一つ。荒彫りな面をもって仕上げたもの。一刀で刻みあげたように見えるのでいう。鎌倉時代に始まり、奈良の一刀彫り人形、飛騨の一位彫りが有名。※生々流転（1939）〈岡本かの子〉「ちょっと奈良の一刀彫(いったうボリ)のやうです」
