1837‐73 Bulgarian revolutionary. Although he was a deacon, he was influenced by the revolutionary ideas of Rakovski and joined his secret organization. After Rakovski's death, he organized the Bulgarian Revolutionary Central Committee in Bucharest with Karabelov (1870) and prepared an armed uprising of the people to liberate Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire. He established revolutionary committees in various places, incited the people, and prepared for the uprising, but in 1872 he was arrested and executed by the Turkish government.
