A town in Onga County, in the northern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, downstream of the Onga River. The Kagoshima Main Line runs through the town. The area is made up of reclaimed rice paddies, but with the development of the Kitakyushu industrial area, part-time work is becoming more common. In recent years, the town has been rapidly converted into residential areas. There is an industrial complex in the southern part of the town. 22.15 km2 . Population: 19,160 (2010).
