A nunnery temple of the Nanzenji school of the Rinzai sect in Shishigatani, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It is called Enjozan. It is commonly known as "Tani no Gosho" (Valley Palace) or "Kashigatani Bikuni Gosho". The principal image is Nyoirin Kannon. At the request of Emperor Gomizunoo, the temple was founded with the help of 120 koku of temple land, and in 1654 (Shoo 3), it was given the name Enjozan Reikanji by imperial permission. From then until the Meiji Restoration, princesses entered the temple and became its successive chief priests. The temple had a deep relationship with the Imperial family, and was given the old palace of the Imperial Court as a gift when the buildings were rebuilt. Currently, the temple is equipped with a main hall, a kitchen, a study, a front gate, and other facilities, and the temple grounds are large, with the grounds being rich in tranquil and elegant scenery. 京都市左京区鹿ヶ谷にある臨済宗南禅寺派の尼門跡寺院。円成山と号する。通称〈谷の御所(たにのごしよ)〉,また〈鹿ヶ谷比丘尼御所〉。本尊如意輪観音。後水尾法皇の発願で皇女浄法身院宮宗澄尼(多利宮)を開山に,寺領120石を寄せて開創,1654年(承応3)勅許により円成山霊鑑寺と称した。そののち明治維新まで皇女が入寺して歴代住持となり,堂宇再造には禁裏の旧御殿を下賜されるなど,皇室との関係は深かった。現在本堂,庫裏,書院,表門などを備え,寺域は広く,境内は閑寂典雅な景趣に富む。
