Kawasoe-so

Japanese:
Kawasoe-so
This manor was located in Saka County, Hizen Province, and corresponds to the present-day Kawazoe-machi, Saga County, Saga Prefecture (now Saga City) and Kitakawazoe-machi, Saga City. According to the entry for July 20, 1130 in the Choshu-ki, the land of Yamashiro Saisho-ji Temple was to be paid an annual tribute of 2,000 koku of rice, but since the manor had only just been established, only 800 koku arrived. Later, the tidal flats in the south were turned into cultivated land, and by 1292 the manor had grown to a vast area of over 1,067 cho. During the Kamakura period, Oe Hiromoto and others were appointed as soji-jito (local land stewards), built Gokuraku-ji Temple within the manor, and donated 1 cho of land free from kerosene. At the end of the Kamakura period, it became the domain of the regent's son-in-law. Some historical documents refer to it as Kawazoe Honsho and Kawazoe Minami-Nanbu-Sho, and Kawazoe Honsho is the same as Kawazoe Kita-Sho, and was also called the Kita-Fuka branch of Kawazoe Sho. Kawasoe Minami-sho was the part of the southern tidal flats that was turned into cultivated land, corresponding to the current area of Kawasoe Town in Saga City, and was also called the southern part of Kawasoe Sho or Kawasoe Shin-sho.
