Rakugo. A certain feudal lord went to Meguro on an autumn wilderness drive, and felt hungry at noon. At that time, the smell of saury being grilled at a nearby farm whetted the lord's appetite. The lord entered the farm with his servants, requested a meal, and ate a lot of saury. It was extremely delicious. After that, the lord could not forget the taste of saury, and strongly requested that it be served on his dinner table. The cook, surprised to hear this, ordered a high-quality saury, steamed it, and served it with all the fat removed. The lord was disappointed and asked, "Is this saury? Is it true? Where did you get it from?" "Nihonbashi is at Uogashi?" "What, Uogashi? That's no good, saury can only be found in Meguro." The second generation Yanagiya Kosan portrayed the lord as Matsudaira Dewa no Kami, but the story is usually performed as "a certain daimyo." There is also a form where it is performed by the "Shogun family" like the 8th generation Hayashiya Shozo (Hikoroku). It is one of the most well-known rakugo.

落語。ある大名が秋の野駆(のが)けに目黒へ出かけ、昼どきになったので空腹を覚えた。そのとき付近の農家で焼いていたサンマのにおいが殿様の食欲をそそった。殿様は家来と農家に入り、食事を所望してサンマを大いに食べた。すこぶる美味であった。その後、殿様はサンマの味がどうしても忘れられず、食膳(しょくぜん)に供えるよう強く要望した。これを聞いて驚いた調理係の者は上等のサンマを取り寄せ、蒸してすっかり脂肪を抜いたものを出した。殿様は失望し「これがサンマか、ほんとうか、いずかたより仕入れたか」「日本橋は魚河岸(うおがし)にございます」「なに、魚河岸？　それでいかん、サンマは目黒に限る」。2代目柳家小さんは、殿様を松平出羽守(でわのかみ)としていたが、普通は「さる大名」で口演する。8代目林家正蔵(しょうぞう)（彦六）のように「将軍家」で口演する型もある。もっともよく知られる落語の一つ。
