He served Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and acted as a go-between between Toji Temple and the shogunate. His kumida works include "Kudari" and "Saigokushi", and it is said that his style influenced Zeami's perfection of Noh. Renga (linked verse) was a school of relief. He was commonly known as Tamarin.
