Punch - Ponchi (English spelling) punch

(1) A type of scribing tool. It is a round or polygonal bar made of tool steel with one end sharpened. An awl is used to make small dots in the center of a hole or at the intersection of a scribing line, and a centering punch is used to make the dots larger.

(2) A male mold in contrast to a female mold. In sheet metal processing, bending is performed using an upper and lower mold, or a punch and die, and in this case, the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) refers to the male mold as a punch.

（1）けがき工具の一種。工具鋼でできた丸棒または多角形の棒の一端を鋭く研いだもの。目打ちは穴の中心やけがき線の交点に小さい点を打つのに使われ、目打ち点を大きくするのに心立ちポンチが使われる。

（2）雌型に対する雄型。板金加工で板素材を曲げるのに上型、下型あるいはポンチとダイスによる型曲げが行われるが、この場合、JIS(ジス)（日本工業規格）では雄型をさしてポンチと名づけている。
