Folk song - Ryo
|
One of the old names for Japanese folk songs. Sato means village, and ri means vulgar or rustic, and is synonymous with local songs and folk songs (customs and manners). Around the 1880s, folk songs began to be used as a translation of the English word folk song, and they came to be included in the term folk songs. 日本の民謡の古称の一つ。里は村里，俚はいやしい，ひなびたなどの意で，在郷歌，風俗歌（ふぞくうた）(風俗)などと同義。明治20年代ごろ，英語のフォーク･ソングfolk songなどの訳語として民謡が使われだしてから，民謡に包含されるようになった。民謡【三隅 治雄】
