Kamitate - Kamitate

...A ceremony in which three-year-old boys and girls stop shaving their hair and start growing it out. It is also called Kamitare, Kamiyoke, Kamitate, etc. The Kamioki ceremony was held from the Kamakura period to the Muromachi and Edo periods, and was often held on November 15th when the child was two years old for nobles and three years old for samurai families.
