Yingkou

A prefecture-level city in the southern part of Liaoning Province in northeastern China. Located at the mouth of the Liao River, it is one of the important seaports in northeastern China. It governs four city districts and acts as the administrative agent for two county-level cities, Dashiqiao and Gaizhou (as of 2016). Population: 2,354,500 (2014). From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, the amount of agricultural products transported by water on the Liao River from inland areas exceeded one million tons, but the opening of the South Manchuria Railway and the opening of the port of Dalian took away its prosperity. However, a branch line of the Harbin-Dalian Line still runs through the city, and it functions as a port. In 2016, Yingkou Lanqi Airport was opened about 20 kilometers southeast of the city center. Industries such as spinning, machinery, paper, chemicals, and food are well developed. Apple cultivation is thriving in Yugaku in the south.

中国東北部、遼寧(りょうねい)省南部の地級市。遼河(りょうが)の河口に位置し、東北の重要な海港の一つである。4市轄区を管轄し、大石橋(だいせっきょう)、蓋州(がいしゅう)の2県級市の管轄代行を行う（2016年時点）。人口235万4500（2014）。19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけては、遼河の水運による内陸部の農産物の集貨量は100万トンを超えたが、南満州鉄道の開通、大連(だいれん)の開港により繁栄を奪われた。しかし現在も哈大(はだい)線（ハルビン―大連）の支線が通じ、港湾の機能を有し、2016年には市中心部の南東約20キロメートルに営口蘭旗空港が開港した。紡織、機械、製紙、化学、食品などの工業が発達している。南部の熊岳(ゆうがく)ではリンゴの栽培が盛んに行われている。
