Eternal Recurrence - English Language

Japanese: 永劫回帰 - えいごうかいき
Eternal Recurrence - English Language
Nietzsche's term. A translation of ewige Wiederkunft or ewige Wiederkehr des Gleichen, it is also known as "eternal return." Nietzsche, who considers the play of the finite "will to power" in infinite time, that is, "eternal return," to be the fundamental character of all existence, was struck by this idea in 1881 and later wrote "Thus Spoke Zarathustra." Incidentally, M. Eliade also used this term to discuss the return to archetypes and the cycle of mythical time ("The Myth of Eternal Return").
