Japanese: ツマグロヨコバイ(端黒横這) - ツマグロヨコバイ（英語表記）green rice leafhopper

An insect of the Hemiptera family, Cicadellidae (illustration). As well as planthoppers, leafhoppers are considered to be pests of rice that absorb, but the most important is the green rice leafhopper. Its body length is 4-6 mm, and it is bright green overall, with the male's wing tips being prominently black, hence the name, while the female's are light brown. It parasitizes rice and grass weeds, causing direct absorption damage to rice, but it also causes great damage by transmitting rice dwarf disease and rice yellow dwarf disease via vector transmission. It is not found in Hokkaido.

半翅目ヨコバイ科の昆虫（イラスト）。吸収性のイネの害虫として，ウンカ類とともにヨコバイ類があげられるが，もっとも重要なのが，このツマグロヨコバイである。体長は4～6mm，全体に鮮緑色で，雄の翅端が顕著な黒色で名もこれによるが，雌では淡褐色である。イネとイネ科などの雑草に寄生し，イネには直接的な吸収害を及ぼすが，さらにイネ萎縮病とイネ黄萎病を媒介伝播（でんぱ）させることがあるので被害が大きい。北海道には分布しない。
