Noh play. The fifth piece. All schools except Konparu. Written by Kanze Kojiro Nobumitsu. Based on the Konjaku Monogatari and other sources. This piece is centered around the supporting actors, and features Watanabe Tsuna fighting the demon living in Rashomon and taking one of the demon's arms. Slash tree Scrap off.
A novel by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Published in 1915. Based on the Konjaku Monogatari. It depicts human egoism through the story of a servant who climbs the dilapidated Rashomon Gate at the end of the Heian period to sleep there, but quickly transforms into a thief in order to survive.
The title of a film directed and written by Akira Kurosawa. Released in 1950. An adaptation of Ryunosuke Akutagawa's short story "In a Grove." It depicts human ego by repeatedly reenacting the different testimonies of the people involved and witnesses to the same murder case. Starring Toshiro Mifune, Masayuki Mori, Machiko Kyo, and others. It won an Honorary Academy Award and the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, and became a catalyst for Japanese films to receive recognition overseas.

謡曲。五番目物。金春を除く各流。観世小次郎信光作。今昔物語などに取材。ワキ方中心の曲で、渡辺綱が羅生門にすむ鬼と戦い、鬼の片腕を斬きり落とす。
芥川竜之介の小説。大正4年（1915）発表。今昔物語に取材。平安末期、荒れ果てた羅生門に上って寝ようとした下人が、生きるために盗人に早変わりする話を通し、人間のエゴイズムを描く。
黒沢明監督・脚本による映画の題名。昭和25年（1950）公開。芥川竜之介の短編小説「藪の中」とを翻案。同じ殺人事件の当事者たちと目撃者のそれぞれ異なる証言を繰り返し再現し、人間のエゴを描く。出演、三船敏郎、森雅之、京マチ子ほか。アカデミー賞名誉賞、ベネチア国際映画祭金獅子賞を受賞するなど、日本映画が海外で評価されるきっかけとなった。
