A group of Early Devonian plants discovered near Rhynie in northern Scotland. They are part of the Rhynie Chert (→Chert), a preserved silicified peat from bogs where primitive land plants grew. They include a variety of taxa, such as the early vascular plant Rhynia , non-vascular plants such as Aglaophyton and Horneophyton , which have conductive tissue, and the leaf-like plant Asteroxylon , providing insight into the early diversification of land plants. The Rhynie Chert also preserves symbiotic fungi and arthropods such as mites, making it a fossil of an early terrestrial ecosystem.

イギリス北部スコットランドのライニー付近で発見された，デボン紀前期の植物群。原始陸上植物が生育した湿地の泥炭が植物遺体ごとケイ化して保存されたライニーチャート（→チャート）に含まれる。初期の維管束植物であるリニア Rhynia，維管束植物ではないが通道組織をもつアグラオフィトン Aglaophyton やホルネオフィトン Horneophyton，小葉類であるアステロキシロン Asteroxylon などの多様な分類群を含み，陸上植物の初期の多様化の様子がうかがえる。ライニーチャートの中には共生菌類やダニ類などの節足動物も保存されており，初期の陸上生態系の化石ともいうべきものである。
