Middle English, abbreviated as ME. The end of this period is set at 1500 because up until this time it belonged to the Middle Ages culturally, and the Renaissance began at this point, but some consider the change in English pronunciation to be important, and consider the period from 1450 onwards when this change appeared as Modern English. Taking these circumstances into account, and also the rapid impact that the printing press brought from the continent in 1476 had on English (such as the spread of standard English), the 15th century can be seen as a transitional period from Middle English to Modern English in any case.
