Alleculidae

...They overwinter as larvae and pupate in May in rotten wood or other places. There are about 1,200 species of cutworms known from around the world, and about 30 species known from Japan. They are separated from the Tenebrionidae family because the claws on the adult's legs are comb-like, but some scholars include them in the Tenebrionidae family.
