Yokooji

Japanese:
Yokooji
An old road that runs east-west through the Yamato Basin. It is a straight road that runs almost due east-west from Konishi Bridge, which spans Terakawa River in Niodo, Sakurai City, to the vicinity of Nagao Shrine in Taima Town, Kitakatsuragi County (approximately 12.7 km). For this reason, Yokooji, like Shimo-michi, which runs north-south through the Yamato Basin, was the reference line for the implementation of the jori system, and its width is not included in the jori system (the 1 cho adjacent to Yokooji on the south is much wider than the average 109m for 1 cho in the Yamato Plain). Taking Higashijo-ri, the road east of Shimo-michi, as an example, Yokooji runs between the tsubo-nai of 24 jo, 2, 11, 14, 23, 26, and 35, and the tsubo-nai of 3, 10, 15, 22, 27, and 34.
