Hideteru Yamamoto
1857-1943 A pastor and theologian from the Meiji to early Showa periods.
Born on October 30, 1858. Baptized by JH Bara in Yokohama. After evangelizing in various places, he became a pastor at Osaka Higashi Church and other churches. In 1907, he became a professor at Meiji Gakuin, where he worked for 20 years. He passed away on November 21, 1943, at the age of 87. He was born in Tango (Kyoto Prefecture). He graduated from Tokyo Unity Theological Seminary (now Meiji Gakuin University). His real surname was Iwai. His works include "History of the Church of Christ in Japan."

安政4年10月30日生まれ。横浜でJ.H.バラから受洗。各地を伝道後,大阪東教会などの牧師となる。明治40年明治学院教授となり,20年間勤務。昭和18年11月21日死去。87歳。丹後(京都府)出身。東京一致神学校(現明治学院大)卒。本姓は岩井。著作に「日本基督教会史」など。
