SOPHIA

Japanese: SOPHIA - そふぃあ
SOPHIA
A Japanese rock band. The members are Mitsuru Matsuoka (vocals), Kazuki Toyoda (guitar), Yoshio Kuroyanagi (bass), Yoshitomo Akamatsu (drums), and Keiichi Miyako (keyboards). The band formed in Osaka in 1994, and moved to Tokyo, making their indie debut. In 1995, they made their major debut with the mini-album "BOYS". In 1996, their third album "Kiss the Future" debuted at number 10 on the Oricon charts for the first time. In 1997, they performed at the Budokan. In 1999, they went on a national tour, and all shows were sold out on the day of general release. They continued to perform smoothly after that, and in 2009, they held a 15th anniversary concert at the Ryogoku Kokugikan. In 2010, member Keiichi Miyako went on medical treatment, and the band announced a hiatus from activities as a band, but on August 12, 2011, they held a comeback concert at the Nippon Budokan. In April 2013, they announced that the band would be suspending its activities after their national tour "SOPHIA LIVE 2013".
