Amphiprion (yokoebi) - Amphiprion (English spelling) beach‐flea

Japanese: ヨコエビ(横蝦) - ヨコエビ(英語表記)beach‐flea
Amphiprion (yokoebi) - Amphiprion (English spelling) beach‐flea
A general term for crustaceans of the Amphipoda suborder, particularly those in the genus Gammaridea, family Gammaridea. They are often called springtails. The name gammaridea comes from the fact that these animals swim sideways through the water. The bodies of the Gammaridea amphipods are flattened from side to side and are divided into a head, seven thoracic segments, six abdominal segments, and a telson segment, with a pair of compound eyes on the head on each side. In general, the front four pairs of thoracic legs bend forward, and the rear three pairs face backward like the abdominal legs. Gills are developed on the inner surface of the basal plate of the second to seventh thoracic legs or the third to seventh thoracic legs.
