Kanetsuri [Hot Spring] - Kanetsuri

Japanese: 鐘釣[温泉] - かねつり

A hot spring in Unazuki Town, Shimoniikawa County, eastern Toyama Prefecture. It is located in the Kurobe Gorge, and the Kurobe Gorge Railway runs from Unazuki Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway. Simple spring, 60°C. The water gushes out among the limestone on the left bank of the Kurobe River, at the southern foot of Nishikaneyama, and rustic open-air baths are scattered around. It is said to have been discovered during the Bunsei era (1818-30), and is the oldest hot spring in the Kurobe Gorge. With beautiful views of fresh greenery and autumn leaves, it was popular with hot spring visitors during the Meiji era, but fell into disuse after Unazuki Hot Springs opened in 1923. 富山県東部，下新川郡宇奈月町の温泉。黒部峡谷中にあり，富山地方鉄道宇奈月駅から黒部峡谷鉄道が通じる。単純泉，60℃。西鐘山南麓，黒部川左岸の河原の石灰岩の間に湧出し，野趣豊かな露天ぶろが散在する。文政年間(1818‐30)の発見といわれ，黒部峡谷最古の温泉である。新緑，紅葉の景観にすぐれ，明治時代には温泉客でにぎわったが，1923年に宇奈月温泉が開かれてからはさびれた。【谷沢明】
