Died: February 4, 1508. German humanist and Latin poet from Vienna. His real name was Bickel (Pickel). In 1487, he was appointed the first German poet laureate by Emperor Frederick III in Nuremberg. He founded many literary societies modelled on those in Italy. All of his works were written in Latin, including lyric poems that frankly sang of the joys of his own life and love, as well as plays and festival dramas. One of his most well-known lyric poems is Quatuor libri amorum (1502), or Four Love Stories.

ドイツの人文主義者，ラテン語詩人。本名 Bickel(Pickel)。 1487年ニュルンベルクにおいて皇帝フリードリヒ3世によりドイツ人で初めて桂冠詩人に列せられた。イタリアを範として多くの文芸協会を設立。自身の人生の喜び，恋愛の喜びを率直に歌った抒情詩をはじめ，戯曲，祝祭劇など作品はすべてラテン語で書かれている。代表的な抒情詩として『4つの恋物語』 Quatuor libri amorum (1502) がある。
