Cadmium yellow

Japanese: カドミウムイェロー（英語表記）cadmium yellow

A pale yellow to orange-yellow inorganic pigment composed of a solid solution of cadmium sulfide (CdS) and zinc sulfide (ZnS), CdS･ n ZnS. The yellow color deepens as the amount of zinc sulfide decreases. It has high tinting power and excellent chemical, heat, and solvent resistance. It is widely used for coloring high-quality paints, coatings, printing inks, synthetic resins, and glass. It is particularly suitable for coloring plastics that require heat resistance. The manufacturing method is to react a mixed aqueous solution of cadmium sulfide and zinc sulfate with an aqueous solution of sodium sulfide, and the resulting precipitate is filtered and dried, then washed, dried, and crushed.

硫化カドミウムCdSと硫化亜鉛ZnSの固溶体，CdS･nZnSを組成とする淡黄色ないし橙黄色の無機顔料。硫化亜鉛が少なくなると黄色が濃くなる。着色力大で，耐薬品性，耐熱性，耐溶剤性が優れている。高級絵具，塗料，印刷インキ，合成樹脂･ガラス着色用に広く用いられる。とくに耐熱性の要求されるプラスチックの着色に適している。製法は，硫化カドミウムと硫酸亜鉛の混合水溶液に硫化ナトリウム水溶液を反応させ，得られた沈殿をろ過乾燥後，洗浄，乾燥，粉砕する。
