Born in 1666. Adopted son of Madenokoji Korefusa. Jodo sect. Became a monk at Rosan-ji in 1620, and studied under his uncle Soho of Chion-in and Tokaku of Daigan-ji. He was adopted by Tokugawa Ieyasu, and became the 29th abbot of Chion-in in 1621. He established the foundation of Chion-in as the head temple of the Jodo sect. He is said to be the founder of the temple's revival. Died on June 25, 1623. He was 59 years old. His pen name was Kyuka, and his pen name was Gyorensha Manyo.
