Enkei
The Japanese era name (nengo). It was the era name of Emperor Hanazono from 1308 to 1311 during the Kamakura period. The previous era name was Tokuji . The era name was Ocho . The era name was changed on October 9, 1308 (Tokuji 3). The era name was changed when Emperor Hanazono ascended to the throne (the first era name was changed). The name is based on the Gokanjo (Book of the Later Han). The Shoguns of the Kamakura Shogunate during the Enkei era were Prince Hisaakira (8th Shogun ) and Prince Morikuni ( 9th Shogun), who was the last Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate. The regent was Hojo Morotoki (10th Shogun). In 1308 (Enkei 1), Emperor Hanazono ascended to the throne at the age of 12 following the death of Emperor Gonijo . Since Gonijo was from the Daikakuji line, Hanazono from the Jimyoin line was to succeed the throne. ◇It can also be read as "Engyo" or "Enkei."
