A former town in Higashiibaraki County, central Ibaraki Prefecture. It occupies a plateau on the right bank of the Naka River and produces rice, wheat, yams, tea, burdock, etc. The center is Ishizuka, and there is a bus service from Mito City. In February 2005, it merged with Katsura Village, Higashiibaraki County, and Nanakai Village, Nishiibaraki County, to become a town called Shirosato Town. 52.36 km2 . Population 13,949 (2003). 茨城県中央部,東茨城郡の旧町。那珂(なか)川右岸の台地を占め,米,麦,ヤマイモ,茶,ゴボウなどを産する。中心は石塚で,水戸市からバスが通じる。2005年2月東茨城郡桂村,西茨城郡七会村と合併し町制,城里町となる。52.36km2。1万3949人(2003)。
