British salon host. Born into a Yorkshire landowning family. Married to a wealthy landowner, she lost one child and opened a literary salon in London, where she spent her life as a patron of literary figures. The salon was renowned for its high level of intellectual activity, and she was nicknamed "Blue Stockings," giving her name to the Japanese novel "Blue Stocking." Her writings include "The Work and Spirit of Shakespeare" (1769) and letters published posthumously.

Montague

A British female writer and poet. She is known for her collection of letters about Turkey, "Letters from an Embassy" (1763). Born to an aristocratic family, she acquired her education from her father's books. She was known in London society for her beauty and wit, and Pope was said to have been one of her admirers.
