Japanese: ヒメ(比女) - ヒメ（英語表記）Aulopus japonicus

A marine fish of the Myctophiidae family. The body is slender and slightly laterally compressed. The snout is slightly pointed, and the body height is at its highest just before the dorsal fin, becoming more cylindrical as it moves further back. There are gray-red spots on the sides of the body, and a brown horizontal band on the dorsal side. The dorsal fin is located just behind the pectoral fin and slightly behind the center of the body. The pelvic fin is located forward, directly below the beginning of the dorsal fin, and the anal fin is located on the posterior part of the body, opposite the fatty fin. There are red and orange pigment spots on the dorsal, pelvic, and caudal fins. It has very small teeth.

ハダカイワシ目ヒメ科の海産魚。体は細長くやや側扁する。吻（ふん）部はややとがり，体高は背びれ直前で最高となり，それより後方にいくにつれ円筒状に近くなる。体側に灰赤色の斑があり，背側には褐色の横帯がある。背びれは胸びれの直後より体の中心からやや後方に位置する。腹びれは前方にあり背びれ始部の直下，しりびれは体の後半部にありあぶらびれと対位する。背びれ，腹びれ，尾びれに赤色，橙色の色素斑がある。微少な歯をもつ。
