Daimaru [Hot Springs] - Omaru

Japanese: 大丸[温泉] - おおまる

This hot spring is located in the valley of the Shiroto River in Nasu Town, Nasu County, in northern Tochigi Prefecture. It is about 4km northwest of Nasuyumoto Onsen and about an hour by bus from Kuroiso Station on the Tohoku Main Line. Counted as one of the Ten Hot Springs of Nasu, it is known for being visited by the lord of Kurobane during the Edo period and for being a frequent visitor to Nogi Maresuke during the Meiji period. It is located at an altitude of 1,270m on the eastern slope of Mt. Nasu (Mt. Chausu), and offers excellent views of the Nasu Plateau. The natural baths are called "Kawa no Yu" and are created by damming the Tanigawa River. [Tanizawa Akira]

栃木県北部，那須郡那須町の白戸川の渓谷に位置する温泉。那須湯本温泉の北西約4kmにあり，東北本線黒磯駅からバスで約1時間。那須十湯の一つに数えられ，江戸時代には黒羽藩主の来湯があり，明治期には乃木希典が度々訪れたことでも知られる。那須岳(茶臼岳)東山腹の標高1270mの高所にあり，那須高原の眺望にもすぐれている。谷川をせき止めた〈川の湯〉が天然の浴場となっている。【谷沢明】
