1765‐1815
A leader in the Mexican War of Independence. He entered the seminary in Valladolid, where M. Hidalgo was director, and became a priest. He served as Hidalgo's right-hand man during the War of Independence, and after Hidalgo's death, he led the rebel army. He fought against A. de Iturbide, and in 1814 he created the Apatzingán Constitution, which was based on liberal ideas. However, he was arrested and shot in 1815. The War of Independence stagnated from this period, and was finally achieved in 1821. In his honor, his birthplace, Valladolid, was renamed Morelia.

メキシコ独立戦争の指導者。M.イダルゴが院長をしていたバヤドリードの神学校に入学して司祭となり，独立戦争中はイダルゴの右腕として働き，彼の亡き後は反乱軍を指導した。A.deイトゥルビデと交戦したこともあり，1814年には自由主義思想に立脚したアパツィンガンApatzingán憲法を作成した。しかし，1815年に逮捕され銃殺。独立戦争はこの時期から停滞し，21年にようやく達成された。彼をたたえ，生誕地バヤドリードはモレリアと改名された。
