An old town in Soraku County, at the southern end of Kyoto Prefecture. The main settlement is in the Kizu River basin, and the Kansai Main Line runs through it. It produces rice, tea, shiitake mushrooms, and flowers. It is located in the Kunikyo construction area, and is home to the ruins of Yamashiro Kokubunji Temple (historic site), Gansen Temple, and Joruri Temple. In March 2007, Soraku County's Kizu Town and Yamashiro Town merged to form Kizugawa City. 36.97 km2 . 京都府南端,相楽(そうらく)郡の旧町。木津川流域に主集落があり関西本線が通じる。米,茶,シイタケ,花卉(かき)などを産する。恭仁京造営地で,山城国分寺跡(史跡),岩船(がんせん)寺,浄瑠璃寺がある。2007年3月,相楽郡木津町,山城町が合併し,木津川市となる。36.97km2。1万5607人(2005)。
