Also called moraine or glacial moraine. A hillock formed by the transport and deposition of rock debris produced by glaciers eroding the ground. It can also refer to the deposits that create such a topography. It is made up of soil, sand, gravel, and boulders. There are mainly end moraine, which is deposited in a flat or crescent shape at the end of a glacier, central moraine, which is deposited in the center of a glacier where two glaciers meet, and side moraine, which is deposited in long, narrow strips on the side walls of a glacial valley. In Japan, they exist in mountainous areas such as Hida, Akaishi, Kiso, and Hidaka as traces of past glaciers.

堆石，氷堆石とも。氷河が地面を浸食して生成した岩屑(がんせつ)を運搬堆積して形成した小丘地形。そのような地形をつくる堆積物をさす場合もある。土，砂，礫(れき)，岩塊から構成される。おもに氷河末端に平面状か三日月状に堆積する端堆石，２氷河の合流部で氷河の中央部に堆積する中央堆石，氷食谷の側壁に細長く堆積する側堆石などがある。日本では飛騨，赤石，木曾，日高などの山地に過去の氷河の跡として存在する。
