In 1931, he studied in France, but fell ill and returned to Japan the following year. Among his achievements, he is particularly known for his assertion of the existence of paddy rice farming in the Yayoi period, but he also showed enthusiasm in the study of bronze implements, and ancient and historical tombs, contributing to the study of these with innovative research. He passed away on January 22, 1936.
