…After graduating from Keio University in 1882, he became an advisor to the Korean government's Foreign Ministry and head of the Literature Bureau under the direction of Yukichi Fukuzawa in 1883. In October of the same year, he launched Korea's first modern official gazette and newspaper, the Hanseong Junpo (weekly, in Chinese). With the help of Kang Wei, he created a mixed Korean and Chinese text, which was officially used for the first time in the Hanseong Shubo (weekly), which was launched in January 1886. During this time, he was also involved in the Gapsin Coup of 1884, and temporarily fled to Japan with Kim Ok-gyun and others. …
