A former town in Senboku-gun, in the central eastern part of Akita Prefecture. The western part is part of the Yokote Basin, and the Tazawa Canal Project has led to the development of rice paddies, resulting in a high rice yield, as well as the cultivation of vegetables and flowers. In March 2005, the town merged with Omagari City, Senboku-gun Kamioka-cho, Nishisenboku-cho, Nakasen-cho, Kyowa-cho, Senboku-cho, and Minami-Tono-mura to become a city, Daisen City. 103.36 km2 . 7,774 people (2003).
