Also known as mobile oil or engine oil. A lubricant used for internal lubrication of gasoline engines. Also used in hot bulb engines and reciprocating air compressors. It is necessary for it to have a small change in viscosity with temperature, a low pour point, and resistance to oxidation, so antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, detergents, and dispersants are added to highly refined lubricating oil fractions. モビール油，エンジンオイルとも。ガソリンエンジンの内部潤滑に使用する潤滑油。焼玉機関，往復動空気圧縮機などにも使われる。粘度の温度変化が小さいこと，流動点が低いこと，酸化しにくいことなどが必要で，高度に精製した潤滑油留分に酸化防止剤，腐食防止剤，清浄分散剤などを加える。
