Kaga Goto

...The fifth Goto Tokujo was employed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was involved in the production of large gold coins, and his disciple Shozaburo Mitsutsugu (Goto Shozaburo), who was adopted by the fourth Mitsujo, was ordered by Hideyoshi to work on casting small gold coins under Tokugawa Ieyasu in Edo, and later wielded great influence as the head of the gold mint. There were also 14 branches and sects of the family known as waki-Goto, and among them the Kaga Goto was the most prosperous, continuing production in Kanazawa. At the end of the Edo period, Ichijo (1791-1876) emerged from the Shichiroemon family in Kyoto, who became famous as the greatest craftsman of his generation and marked the end of the Goto family. ...
