An official from the early 7th century. Also written as Abe Torikoomi and Abe Naiomi Tori. The Abe clan was divided into many families in the early 7th century, but the Abe Nai family was the main family, and played an active role as tayu for two generations, Tori and Maro. Tayu was the name given to ministers who, together with the Minister and Dairen, were responsible for national politics from the early 6th century to the 7th century. He guided the Sui envoy Pei Shiqing, who came to Japan in the 16th year of the reign of Empress Suiko (608), and conveyed the official letter to Otomo no Kui. Two years later, when the Silla and Mimana envoys came to Japan, he was one of the four tayu and conveyed the message to Soga no Umako as one of the four tayu. In 1820, when the Emperor's mother, Katashiohime, was reburied at Hinokuma-dairyo (Misemaruyama Kofun in Kashihara City), the Emperor's orders were recited, but Tori was not able to do so well. <References> Nagato Sato, "The Abe Clan and the Royal Ceremonies" (Nihon Rekishi, No. 540)

7世紀初頭の官人。阿倍鳥子臣,阿倍内臣鳥とも記す。7世紀初頭の阿倍氏は多くの家に分かれていたが,阿倍内家はその本宗家ともいうべき系統で,鳥,麻呂と2代にわたって大夫として活躍した。大夫とは6世紀前半から7世紀にかけて,大臣,大連らと共に国政を担った群臣の呼称。推古16(608)年に来日した隋使裴世清の導者となり,国書を大伴咋に伝達。また2年後の新羅使,「任那」使の来日に際しても,四大夫のひとりとして蘇我馬子に使旨を伝奏した。20年に,天皇の母堅塩媛を檜隈大陵(橿原市の見瀬丸山古墳)に改葬したとき,天皇の命を誄したが,鳥のみはうまく誄できなかったという。<参考文献>佐藤長門「阿倍氏と王権儀礼」(『日本歴史』540号)
