A town in Uryu County, Hokkaido. It is located on low-lying land between the Ishikari River and its tributary, the Uryu River, and is served by the Hakodate Main Line. After the construction of the Taisho Irrigation Canal, the vast Uryu Plain was opened up for cultivation, and became a major rice-producing region. Area: 48.64 km2 . Population: 3,462 (2010).
