Red colobus

Japanese: アカコロブス（英語表記）red colobus

A species of primate in the Cercopithecidae family, this medium-sized Old World monkey (illustration) has a long tail and red hair. Over a dozen subspecies are known. It is widely distributed from the central part of Africa, including Zanzibar Island, East Africa, and Gambia in West Africa, and inhabits tropical rainforests, swamp forests, and riverine forests. It is an arboreal dweller, but sometimes descends to the ground. Its head and body length is about 60 cm, its tail length is about 65 cm, and it weighs about 10 kg. Its body color varies widely, from reddish brown to bright orange and yellowish brown. There is also a subspecies with a blackish dorsal side.
