This usually refers to orthotelluric acid, H 6 TeO 6. Another salt, metatelluric acid, H 2 TeO 4, is known but has not been isolated. [Production method] Tellurium or tellurium dioxide is oxidized with a mixture of nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, and a small amount of chloric acid, or with nitric acid and potassium permanganate. It can also be obtained by oxidation with 30% hydrogen peroxide or boiling nitric acid containing a small amount of chromium(VI) oxide, CrO3 . After careful evaporation, it is obtained as colorless crystals. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
