Hepburn
American film actress. Born in Connecticut. Debuted on the stage in 1928. Debuted in Love's Tears (1932), and showed her talent in the film world in screwball comedies such as Bringing Up Baby (1938) directed by H. Hawks and starring C. Grant. Known for her strong personality and precise acting. Won Academy Awards two years in a row for D. Lean's The Journey (1955), co-starring with S. Tracy in The Uninvited (1967), and The Lion in Winter (1968), and was called Hollywood's best actress. Other notable appearances include On Golden Pond (1981) with H. Fonda.

Wyler, Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), which made the New York jewellery store Tiffany a tourist attraction, Charade (1963) with C. Grant, and How to Steal a Million (1966). She became a world-famous innocent star.

米国の映画女優。コネティカット生れ。1928年舞台にデビュー。《愛の嗚咽》(1932年)で映画界にも登場,H.ホークス監督,C.グラント共演のスクリューボール・コメディ《赤ちゃん教育》(1938年)などで才能を示した。強烈な個性と正確な演技で知られる。D.リーン監督《旅情》(1955年),S.トレーシーと共演した《招かれざる客》(1967年),《冬のライオン》(1968年)で2年連続アカデミー賞を受賞し,ハリウッド最高の演技派女優と称された。ほかにH.フォンダと共演した《黄昏》(1981年)などがある。
