A woman with half a snake's body in a legend about the origins of an old castle in Lusignan, a town in the Poitou region in central-western France. According to legend, she was the daughter of an Albanian king and the water spirit Undine, and on Saturdays her lower body turned into a snake's. She married Raymond, the lord of Lusignan, and gave birth to 10 sons and lived happily, but when her husband broke the taboo and saw her on a Saturday, she turned into a dragon and flew away through the window. She is said to have come to breastfeed her infant child at night. It is said that she would cry out three days in advance to warn that when the lord of Lusignan was to change or misfortune would befall France.
