Ming Dynasty Art

Ming Dynasty Art
The Ming dynasty lasted for about 300 years, from 1368 (Hongwu 1) when Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor (Taizou) in Yingtian Prefecture (Nanjing) to 1644 (Chongzhen 17), when Li Zicheng's rebel army captured Beijing and Yizong hanged himself. As the dynasty was established by the Han people after the Yuan dynasty, which was ruled by foreign tribes, art from the early period has been noted to have elements of restoration or nationalism, but in each genre, new artistic trends that had emerged during the Yuan dynasty were inherited and developed. In the later period, from around the 16th century, new art theories were established in response to innovative trends in literature and thought, and creative activities in new styles were carried out, and these were passed down to the succeeding Qing dynasty.
